… will be the key instrument to update knowledge and bring together ESAS members and other experts in this field at regular intervals.
The biennial European Conference on Schizophrenia Research (ECSR) is the main platform of the ESAS for sharing research findings with the scientific community. It is the nucleus out of which ESAS emerged and was initiated in 2007 by the German Competence Network on Schizophrenia (CNS). The ECSR is now a joint thematic conference of the ESAS and the CNS. The World Psychiatric Association (WPA) and the European Psychiatric Association (EPA) with their sections on schizophrenia, and the German Association for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics (DGPPN) are co-sponsoring this scientific event. Moreover, the ESAS collaborates with the Asian Network on Schizophrenia Research.
In 2013 ESAS has accepted the responsibility to organize upcoming and future ECSRs. Accordingly the current ESAS-president will serve as congress president during his term of office and the ESAS secretariat will act as scientific organizer together with the CNS.
In the years between the ECSR research-workshops are planned in order to identify issues for joint research and establish respective consortia and task forces.
